Charlie speaks Icelandic. Taylor designs board games
Hello from Berkeley, California! We are Charlie and Taylor. In 2015 we moved from Chicago, IL to start a new adventure in California. Now in our 30’s, when we’re not out hiking through the forest with our dog, Milo, stargazing with our telescope, or exploring nearby sights, we love to spend quality time with our families and friends. We can’t wait to share our lifelong passion for curiosity, exploration, and fun with a new addition to our family.
Charlie is interested in so many things. He loves to read about the world, its people, its mysteries, and everything in between. He once played classical bass with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. He gazes at stars through his telescope and even runs marathons! These are just a few reasons why I married him years ago. But, what makes Charlie special is how he makes you feel when you’re with him. He wants to get to know you and find out what interests you, and no matter who you are or where you come from, he supports you. Charlie is my best friend, with an easy laugh, ears that love to listen, a grin to melt any sadness, and a big heart ready to be a dad.
Taylor’s obsession with science is only slightly overshadowed by his insatiable love of teaching science to children and adults. He grew up in Tempe, Arizona, and spends lots of time in Nebraska and Illinois visiting his extended families. After he finished his doctorate in chemistry, we moved to California where he now works at a biotech company designing educational science kits for schools. In his free time, he designs and plays games, goes on long walks in the park, and works on his latest art project. My favorite part of Taylor is his genuine curiosity about the world and seeing the joy it brings him to share it with others. His patience, kindness, and curiosity are endearing qualities that will make him such a loving and nurturing father.
We live in a quiet, family-oriented neighborhood full of redwoods and charming houses with a view of the entire San Francisco Bay. We often visit the nearby regional park that is complete with forests, a lake, a petting zoo, and a mini railroad through the forest. Our neighborhood is home to a wide diversity of people and many young children who play together and are excited to welcome a new friend.
Charlie has two older brothers with younger children who can’t wait to have new cousins. We love to visit their families, Charlie’s parents, and extended family during the holidays.
Taylor is an only child but with his 14 aunts and uncles plus almost 40 cousins and their children, the family gatherings are big, fun, loud, and welcoming.
We’ve been excited about adoption since the day we met and can’t wait to grow our family. Our home is one of love, comfort, curiosity, and compassion. We look forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and learning about your hopes and dreams for your child. Thank you for getting to know us and considering taking this next step of your journey with us.
