We live in West Sacramento, California
Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday! It gives us a chance to enjoy quality time with our family and friends.
Our happy places include our home, vacationing in Hawaii, bike riding together, and coffee shops around Sacramento.
Our best vacation was spent in Maui over a Thanksgiving week holiday with Nicole's family.
We love animals! Anyone that stops by our place can expect to be greeted by Cloe the cat!
Welcome! We are Chris and Nicole from West Sacramento, California.
We chose open adoption because we feel it is a healthy and beautiful experience for everyone involved. We want you to have the opportunity to see the positive impact your decision will have on us and your child by providing the benefit of knowing you, and knowing their adoption story. We look forward to embarking on this journey together, and growing our family of two to three!
We met shortly after Chris returned from the Marine Corp and Operation Desert Storm. We spotted each other on our first day at college where we had speech class together, both of us very nervous about the possibility of speaking in public! But, it was love at first sight, both of us immediately wanting to get to know each other, which made going to class a little bit easier. We were married a couple of years later, and have been happily married for 20 years.
Although we were a newly married couple, we continued to study hard, obtaining degrees in special education and psychology. We believe in making an impact on our community and value education and creating opportunities for positive social change, and sought careers in fields where we could help those around us. We are very compassionate, loyal, and hardworking, all traits we hope to pass on to our child.
One last thing you should know about us, is that we love to laugh! Whenever we’re with each other, family, or friends, we are typically sharing funny stories or jokes among the kids in our lives, filling our house with laughter. We’re looking forward to our child laughing and joking right along with us!
Our home is surrounded by diverse and friendly neighbors, with many children of all different ages. During the warmer months, we envision our child playing along with the neighboring kids, and riding their bikes together around the court while we are outside gardening and doing other summer activities. We are lucky to live in an area where trees and plants are easy to grow, and enjoy time outdoors keeping our yard maintained. It’s always a treat to drive up to our house and see the new blossoms during spring and summer, and it will be an even better sight to see our child playing outside with their friends!
The best feature of our home is a great big room that serves as the gathering place for family and friends to come together to socialize, cook, listen to music, and watch movies. We often share meals with our loved ones, and Nicole finds great joy in cooking for everyone. We keep things relaxed and uncluttered, and have plenty of space open for our new addition!
We share our home with our lovable cat Chloe, who enhances our daily lives. Most of the time, she can be found lounging around in the sunshine outside or in the living room with Chris in his favorite chair.
We have many close friends living near us, with our best friends, their children, and our goddaughter just a few streets away. This affords us the opportunity to spend time with them often. We love being known to our friends’ children as Uncle Chris and Aunt Cole, and often plan group vacations together to Disneyland, Lake Tahoe, Florida, Oregon, and Hawaii. We also host holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, and informal dinners and gatherings so that we can enjoy the company of our friends and our families. It’s been a huge joy to have the opportunity to watch our dear friends’ children grow up around us.
We also have relatives on both the north and central coasts of California, Idaho, and Florida, and are lucky to be able to visit as often as we can. We travel to the bay area for quality time with extended family, and to Morro Bay to hang out at the beach with our loved ones. We look forward to taking our child on their first visit to grandpa’s house on the central coast.
All of our loved ones are overwhelmingly supportive and happy that we are growing our family through open adoption. We are all awaiting the day to celebrate the new addition we bring into our lives!
As a couple, we have so many interests in common. We enjoy outdoor activities together, including walking, hiking, biking, and general exploration of the areas we are in. We live in West Sacramento, west of the Sacramento River where it meets the American River. It’s a small community, but we have all the conveniences of the city. We often ride the bike trails that follow the river, allowing easy access for us to commute to work, exercise, or ride into downtown Sacramento together for some fun. There are many parks in and around our neighborhood that we visit often with our goddaughter and friends, a duck pond we can bike around and feed the ducks, and a community center that we belong to that hosts many activities for us to join in, including swimming and yoga.
We especially love music, and listen to a wide range of artists and genres. We attend concerts and other local live music events whenever we can. We have an assorted collection of vinyl records, turntables, and other small musical instruments, and while we are home we spend a lot of time listing to music while cooking and relaxing.
We are really looking forward to teaching and enjoying our many hobbies with our child!
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us, and for considering us as prospective adoptive parents!
We hope choosing the parents for your child gives you peace of mind, and should you choose us, we will welcome you into our family with open arms!
