He had a multi-generational upbringing. His grandparents on his mom’s side helped raise him and his younger sister, speaking Spanish, celebrating Noche Buena, and appreciating the ritual of a good cafecito. He has an artistic side, especially for storytelling, which his family helped instill in him during large family gatherings. Recently, he has officiated several of his relatives’ weddings.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing, and cinema. Alex is deeply connected to the happenings of his current home in San Francisco, where he attends concerts, museum exhibits, and food festivals. As a parent, Alex will draw on his background rooted in family, community and creativity. He is looking forward to sharing his love of the arts and culture with a little one someday.

These studies paved the way for a Fulbright scholarship to teach English in France in his early twenties. This experience deepened an interest in journalism, so he went on to earn a master’s degree in this field. He currently works in broadcasting news media as a senior editor. We are fortunate to work for organizations that support a healthy work-life balance and offer flexibility to be actively involved in family life. This means we mostly work from home, allowing time for family.
