Meet Megan & Zach

Hi! We are Zach and Megan. We’ve been together for 16 years and enjoy exploring the world through books, travel, food, family, and friends. Our goal is to be kind, empathetic, and to always stay cozy. In 2022, Sofi joined our family through open adoption and is now a happy, determined toddler who is always on the move. We keep in touch with Sofi’s birthmom regularly, sending pictures and meeting up throughout the year. Sofi is Latina and we are all learning Spanish together.

We want to grow our family through an open adoption and raise both siblings to be curious, resilient, and explorers with us. Thanks for getting to know us a little!

About Megan

Megan grew up in Southern California and was at the beach weekly, where her two older brothers taught her how to surf. Now, Megan’s favorite weekend afternoons are spent with Sofi putting together a new craft or project. She loves reading Sofi her favorite kid’s books and sharing the empathy, humor, and interest in learning that books taught her. When not playing with the baby or working, Megan can be found building a pair of bookshelves, tending to her vegetable garden, or baking cookies for neighbors.

About Zach

Zach also grew up in southern California and spent time outside of school playing guitar, soccer, basketball, video games, and biking. He is super excited to take Sofi and a future sibling on outdoor adventures, to have them help with projects, and watch the latest movies with them. He enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, listening to audiobooks, coffee, and nerdy games with friends. His curious, funny, and playful spirit make him a great dad.

Meet Sofi

Sofi is a very busy toddler. You can usually find her chasing the cats, dancing, climbing, moving things around, trying a new snack, or snuggling into a cozy blanket. She loves other kids and we think she will be a great older sister someday.

Our Home and Community

We all live in Campbell, California. When it’s warm outside, you can usually find us chilling around the backyard toy water table and inflatable pool under the lemon tree. In the summer we like to go to the beach or on small hikes. When the weather gets a little colder, we like to cuddle together under blankets and go see the snow in Tahoe. Most Sundays, we stroll through the park and wander around the farmer’s market, enjoying the local community.

We both work in the Bay Area at companies that are very flexible so we can prioritize family time. Megan supports an engineering team and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Zach is a software engineer and enjoys getting to work with a team that solves interesting problems.

Our Extended Family

Our family is scattered around southern California, Colorado, and Tennessee so we try to visit everyone a couple times a year to take advantage of the seasons. Zach and Megan both have multiple siblings who each have families and kids of all ages so there is never a dull moment during family get-togethers! Two of Zach’s sisters are adopted from China and all of the cousins love playing with Sofi and each other.

We have two cats – Mai and Tai. When they aren’t sleeping or snuggling on our laps, they are very patient with the excited toddler who loves chasing them all over the house.

We believe it is a huge honor and privilege to become adoptive parents and we approach this process with the utmost respect and commitment. We found each other and are better people for it; we look forward to finding the next part of our family so we can keep growing and exploring together.
